GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS: A LOT OF SURPRISES IN STORE

The 70th Golden Globe Awards has a lot of surprises in store not only for the awaiting audiences, but also for the nominees. This year’s group of nominees chosen for nominations were announced on December 13, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California, while the awards will be presented on January 13, 2013.
The nominees for the best drama motion pictures include “Argo,” “Django Unchained,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”
The movies “Argo,”  “Life of Pi” and “Lincoln” were also selected for nominations for the best original score, in addition to “Anna Karenina” and “Cloud Atlas.”
It is yet again a great fortune for the four movies “Argo,” “Django Unchained,” “Lincoln,” and “Zero Dark Thirty”, which scored extra nominations along with “Silver Linings Playbook” under the best screenplay category.
For the best musical or comedy motion pictures-“Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” “Les Miserables,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,” and “Silver Linings Playbook” were the movies selected for nominations.
Among all the movies, Civil War based drama “Lincoln” notched up seven nods including best director for Steven Spielberg and best actor for Daniel Day- Lewis. While the rest of the movies also fetched five nods for the best director Ben Affleck for Argo, Kathryn Bigelow for Zero Dark Thirty, Ang Lee for Life of Pi and Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained.
Not to be missed- the prominent celebrities including Joaquin Phoenix for The Master, Richard Gere for Arbitrage, Denzel Washington for Flight, John Hawkes for The Sessions were nominated for the best actors for drama. Categorized under Musical or Comedy, the actor Bradley Cooper and actress Jennifer Lawrence of “Silver Linings Playbook” were nominated for best actor and best actress award respectively. On the other hand, the movie “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” also hit the nominations for the best actor Ewan McGregor and for the best actress Emily Blunt.
